Wednesday next being- a general holiday (Boxing Day), the Patea Mail will not bo published. Horses. Cats are credited with being able to Jind their way home from long distances. Some horses arc not without home instincts. Mr Samuel Hill, of New Plymouth, scorer for the Tikorang'i Cricket Team, at the match played in Carlyle lately, was unable to find his’horse when about to start on the home journey. The horse had got out of the paddock in which it had been placed. Mr Hill had to get another horse to take him to New Plymouth. A week after Mr Hill's arrival home, the animal lie had lost at Carlyle was found in his own paddock, having gradually worked his way from Carlyle, through*’ the different townships, mid along the Mountain Hoad till it found its own sweet pasture. Land, cattle, booths, general merchandise, &c., will bo sold to-day at Hawera by Messrs J. S. Greig & Co.
