WOODSIDE STUD HORSES TO TRAVEL THIS SEASON, WITHIN THE PATEA COUNTY, The following Horses— DEAD SHOT DEAD SHOT is a beautiful chestnut, 6 years old, stands 1G hands high, with immense girth. Pedigree—By Ravehsworth out of Certainty, by II Barbiere, &c., &c. Vide Stud Book. Dead Shot has been shown Five Times, and taken Five First Prizes, viz.. —Nelson, Taranaki, Wanganui (silver medal), Patea (twice, silver medals). Dead Shot’s stock is allowed by competent judges to be second to none in the Middle Island. Terms—Single marcs, £5 ; two or more, £4 10s ; groom’s fee> ss. Guarantee, £7. MONARCH. MONARCH is a rich brown horse, 6 years old, stands 1G hands 1 inch, with splendid bone and great weightcarrying power; by Ravenswortb, dam Plover, (For further particulars vide Stud Book.) Monarch ran in Nelson as a 3-year old, winning the three events be started for. He aiterwards broke down in Wellington, and has not stood training since.

Monarch is own brother to Hercules, who ran. most successfully for several years in Christchurch ; and half-brother, on dam’s side, to Malvina, who was one of the best performers ir the South, boating Calumny and other noted cracks. N.B.—A CUP (to be called the “ Woodsicle Cup”) of TWENTY-FIVE GUINEAS will be given, to be run for as two-year olds on Patea Course—marcs to be nominated on General Entry night, 1878—for the produce of the above horses. PRESIDENT is a beautiful rich roan (now the fashionable colour in England); imported from Melbourne by John Shield, Esq.; was bred by Kenneth McKenzie, Esq., Heidlcburgh, Victoria, and is rising 6 years old. Pedigree—By Lore! Clyde (imported), out of Blossom by Prince Charlie (imported), out of Kate (imported) by Lothian Tam (imported). Terms—Single marcs, £3 10s ; two or more, £3; groomage, ss. President will travel to Hawcra on Mondays, Normanby and "Ketemarae on Tuesdays, returning to Wooclside on Wednesdays ; Fridays, to IVhennakura and back 5 remainder of week at Woodside. Hamilton, Esq., 3 years oldj and is a good useful roadster suitable for getting compact cobs and buggy horses; stands 15 hands 2 inches, and is by Quicksilver (imported Norfolk trotter), out of Battelite’s dann Terms—£2 each mare; Lord Nelson. Lofrb NELSON is a model pony, 4 years old, and stands 12 hands high, by Tom Thumb, out of a well-bred pony mare. Terms—£2 2s each mare; groomage, 2s 6d; Paddocking free for three weeks, after which Is 6d per week will be charged in all cases. Fees payable by cash oh Ist January, 1878.
