TAUPO. November 13. Natives at Opepo suddenly stopped surveys which were being conducted by Captain Turner. They pulled up all the pegs, &c., and refused to allow any trig .stations to be erected. The Ngatiwakawha, at Ohinemutu also stopped Mr McKay, who was engaged surveying blocks for the coming Court at Rotorua. The Natives in this district are becoming very troublesome and seem at present to be taking up a very defying attitude. WELLINGTON. November 13. Mr Sheehan will make a statement as to Native affairs to-morrow. It is understood that Mr Larnach will bring down the Financial Statement on Friday next. A deputation of the City Council will wait upon Sir G-. Grey to-morrow, with regard to introducing a Contagious Diseases Act. Frederick Gillau, recently tried for rape on a little girl at the Hutt, received a flogging of 25 lashes to-day. He howled desperately. A letter has been received from the Australian cricketers by the Secretary of the Wellington Association notifying that they accept terms, and may be expected here by the end of January. PICTON. November 13. Very rich specimens of golden quartz have been brought in from Golden Point Reef near here. o
