SPECIAL SETTLEMENT. The following extracts are from the ‘Taranaki Herald V report of. the meeting of the Taranaki Waste Lands Board on Monday, 29th October —“ Another Special Settlement. —The'following telegram, received on 27th October, from Mr 11. F. Christie, was read “ I hereby apply for 5,000 acres of land at Patea river, Mountain Road, on South side, one mile and a-half frontage to road, on the same terms as Air Fookcs’, and for the same purpose. If land cannot be-granted at river, wouldprefera site nearer Normanby. If Board is agreeable would take land on both sides pf road, with three miles and a-half frontage, in which case would ask Board to name price per acre. Terms, in other respects, to be same as if land was only one side of road.--H. F. Christie.”—Mr Halse was in attendance on behalf of Mr Christie. He stated that Mr (JBfctie was a man of large means, having in Scotland, and it was with a that the settlement was proposed to ..arted he believed. After some discussion it was resolved, “ That the Board is prepared 'to receive and consider applications from Mr Christie; for a special settlement in terms somewhat similar to those of Mr Fookes’. Bona fide occupation, or improvements on the land will be required, it being further understood that the price, as well as terras, shall be an open question to be decided when the site has been determined upon.” A Protest. —A letter was read from S.
