MR FREEMAN R. .JACKSON’S FORTNIGHTLY REPORT. VVAKGANttt, October 25. I have held two sales, of stock since my last report, and prices obtained at them for store cattle were in favour of the sellers. The grass that is .everywhere so abundant makes the demand for stove siock very keen. Beef ruled at lutt sa.e’s prices,-though the bidding at the Yard-i to-day was not very brisk for this description of stock. Sheep show a downward tendency. This must bo expected, as large numbers will be in the market after shearing. The prices obtained were as follows Cattle—At Wavcrlcy, 535 head were sold. Store bullocks, in forward condition £7 15s ; store steers. £5 s:s to £7 5s ; cows, £5 2s 6d to £5 ss; 2 year olds mixed, £4 ss; yearlings, £3 2s (>d_ —At the Yards, to-day, 210 head were yarded and sold. Fat cows. £6 15s to £7 7s (id ; bullocks, medium quality, £8 10s to £9 12s (id ; eows. £5; milch cows, £6 ; store steers, all ages, £5 ; heifers, £3 10s to £4 os. Sheep—None offered at Wavcrlcy,—At the sale to-day. 825 were penned ; 750 found purchasers at quotation'. Wethers in wool, 13s 6d to 14s 9d ; shorn wethers and Owe*, - 8s 6d to 9s Gel; ewes in wool, 10s 3d; owes and lambs. 10s 3d, Hor. es—l had a very brisk sale. All the horses offered were of good stamp. Draught animals. £2O 10 s to £25 ; hacks, good, £ls to £l6 10 s; inferior, £4 to £8 ss. Exports—42 eatUe, 1,320 sheep. WANGANUI GRAIN AND PRODUCE MARKET. October 25. Mr G. A. Hurley reports wholesale prices— Oats, 4s 9d ; wheat and barley, unobtainable; maize, 4s 3d ; rye grass, 7s to 8s 6d; chaff, £7 10s ; hay, £.5 10s; carrots, £3 ; potatoes, £2 40s to £3 15s; butter, cheese, and bacon, nominal; bran, £6los to £7 ; pollard, £7los to £8 ; oatmeal. £22 10s; flour, £l9 10s.
