He showed that moderation would be politic, declaring that Germany would not be indifferent to Russian humiliation. 20,000 Turks are said to have been sacrificed In various attempts to take Shipka Pass. BOMBAY. September 24. A Pussian official despatch says the Turks resumed the bombarding of the Nicholas redoubt, and then assaulted it unsuccessfully. Fighting continues. In Asia, General Jcrgukasson defeated Ismael Pasha with great loss. A Turkish convoy with ammunition is within two hours’ march of Plevna. The result of the fighting at Biela is still indecisive.
