The late rough weather has been playing up on , the ■ Mountain Road, and: our Telegraphist and Postmaster (Mr Orchiston) has, in consequence, had his hands pretty full. It appears that owing to the uncertainty of ' communication through the track, on account of tho wires frequently being torn down by the falling trees, telegrams to and from New Plymouth, have had to be forwarded by messenger. This has caused-heavy work, and the lineman (Mr Dean.) has been incessantly tramping through the muddy roads for the last few weeks, repairing breakages on his portion of the line.
