THE NEW LANES BILL.

The following is a precis of the new Lands Bill, as compiled by the Press Agency :—The proposed Land Act is very lengthy; it contains 169 clauses, besides a schedule and 10 important appendices. The following are the principal features-:—All existing Acts, Ordinances, and Regulations -are to be repealed on the Ist December, when, the new Act comes into operation. Old provinces will be made into land districts, for each of which there will bo a commissioner and board, appointed by the Governor. ,;

' Boards will be entrusted . with large powers in the administration of land ; members to retain office for three years, and to be eligible fox reappointment. Members to receive £1 per sitting, and actual travelling allowance. CARLYLE TOWN BOARD. A MEETING of the above Board was held at the County Council Buildings, on Monday evening last, when there were present; Messrs. G. F. Sherwood (in the chair), Milroy, Taplin, Aitchson, Adams, Rhodes, Williams. Correspondence read—Letter from P. Larsen, requesting permission to fence off roadway, Dorset-street not entertained, as objection had been raised ; from S. Taplin, similar application to above ; from S. Taplin, withdrawing application to fence and objecting to road being fenced; from return of cost of valuation for present year ; from G. A. Northcroft; -Masterton, enclosing 4s 2d arrears-of rates.; from G. D. Hamerton, New Plymouth, enclosing lease of Cemetery reserve ; from W. Cowern, enclosing bank'draft for £llO 8s 9d, balance from receipt of sales, after deducting charges; from same in reference to exchange of land with 1 John Collins from John Collins, for /exchange Of part of Recreation Ground for Lot 5, Block 43 } from G. D. Hainerton, notifying legistration of plan of section No. 2, Block 3G.
