BALL ROAD.

[Wb arc at all tunes ready to give expression to every shadoof .opinion, but,in, no we hold ourselves' responsible for the meuts of ouiycorrespondents.]

(To the.Editor of Patea Mail.) Sir—Seeing a letter in your paper of to-dayls issue, beaded ‘‘ Bali Road,” would you kindly allow me space for a few remarks. I see,, at a meeting held by the Patea West Road Board; on the 17th, a resolution was carried, by which Messrs E. R. Morgan, and A.Hunter, have, been elected four, times, showing the faith the ratepayers have in them ; but, not during any of their previous terms of office, can I hear, or see, that either;of them suggested that they, , themselves, or any other ratepayer, should be called upon to assist the Board, but now. they have a very, fabroad, considering the rates that have been paid in this district, and expended on the bush roads. The cry from the open land owners has. been, spend rates collected from bush land in, the same district, likewise with rates from the open laud,—but, neither could E. R, Morgan* or A. Hunter, see it in this, light. Neither could I, as thov were all paying a level acreage rate.' and a number of open land owners used the road, more or less.' There has been a large amount of rates spent on the bush roads (that is roads to the bush, side of the main road) up to b6th E, Ri Morgan’s and Hunter’s properties-; but.now, people? living further tack ,want a,,dray track, they are told to pAy ei£tra. What a blow to aim at value to let. Has either of the above .any bush material for sale, or to give, any. one, for clearing—not being desirous of giving-any One a chance to get. further back, owing to- no dray track.: How about upper. Kakarameu R<?ad? What are those gentleriieii doing iri the matter that, were going to urge on the hew Board the necessity of - that piece; of work ? There are people back there that require a' track out,, to lies, able to. deliver , firewood; &c. . Is it any benefit toany member of the Board--to- .delay .that, piece of work.—lam, <%c., .- • ■ : ; ,; /■ -■; .query, ..- Kakarairiea, Aug. 25,; .- . ~
