PATE A HARBOUR BOARD.
(TO THE EDITOR OF THE PATEA MAIL.) Sir — Could you inform the public, through your columns, why the Harbour Board has not taken the necessary’ steps to put up to auction the wharves and sheds at the Patea River. The Chairman, who generally pats himself as being very zealous for the public good, does not seem to see any necessity for a slight exertion in that direction, or, yet, for resigning his scat, in either the County Council or the Town Board, so that the full number of members could be appointed. I see, the wharves at Wanganui let for a very respectable sum per annum, and I don’t see why the wharves at Patea should not contribute something to the funds of the Harbour Board. Some of the members were mighty cute a little time since, when they carried, the resolution of charging sixpence per load to the public ; but, they failed to see the wharves and sheds in the light of revenue to any one but the present the Chairman can explain the abovedn the Patea Mail, the public will he enlightened. —I am, &c., ENQUIRER.
