RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
Tuesday, August 28. (Before 0. A. Wray, Esq., R.M.) ; Wandering Cattle. —The followingpersons were charged by the Police with allowing their cattle to wander at large, within the boundaries of the town, on the 21st instant : Daniel Smith, two horses. Fined 2s fid per head, and costs 6s fid. F. Sparks, two horses. Fined 2s fid per head, and costs 6s fid. Click Burke, 23 head horned cattle. Fined 2s fid per head, and costs 6s fid.
PATEA AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATION. A Committee meeting of the above Association was held at Carlyle, on Saturday last. Present: Messrs Coutts (chairman), Dasent, Mcßae, Honyficld, Pearce,Hunter, H. Williamson, T. Mason jun, Balmfofth E. R. Morgan, 0. Hawes, Newland, and J. Dickie jun. Letter read from Mr J. McMichael requesting that his name might be omitted from the committee.
Mr McMiehael’s resignation was accepted, and Mr Mason was appointed in bis place on the sub-committee. It was proposed by Mr, Newland, and seconded by Mr J. Dickie’ jiih., “ That the next show be held at WaverlyP’ ■ An amendment moved by Mr McDae, seconded by Mr Dasent, was carried as follows—“ That if Messrs Morton and Lupton’s paddock can be obtained, and all other expenses incurred in alteration to yards &o. be guaranteed free to the society, the show be held at W avoiiy: otherwise it be held at Kakaramea, as usual.” It was resolved that the Waverly sub-committee be requested to reply within'a week from date.
Mr F Cowern was appointed Secretary for the ensuing year. The Judges for the nest show were appointed. Mr E. M. Honyfield gave notice that he will move at next meeting, “That the Association Paddock at Kakaramea be vested in she County Council.” After deciding that the next meeting should be held on the 22nd September, the meeting adjourned.
