Two readings, “ Lolhair,” and an extract from “Airs Brown’s visit to Pans,' 1 by Mr Lee, were well given and duly appreciated. A violin solo (Fantasia, including “The Last Rose of Hummer) by Mr Dawson, was re-demanded. The usual votes of thanks, and the “National Anthem,” brought a very enjoyable evening to a close. Next subject for debate, will be “ moderate Drinking v. Total Abstinence,” to be introduced lyy Air J. Ginger. The township here seems determined to keep pace with its next door neigh oor, Kakaramea. A blacksmith’s shop is in course of erection near the hotel. It is to be opened by Mr Jones, late of Palmerston and Wanganui, and will, no doubt, prove a great convenience fp farmers and others in tin’s neighborhood.
