On the House resuming hist night, Mr Whitaker drew atcontion to an arlielc_ m the Oatiiavu Mail, of 13th Aug., reflecting on him in connection with the Lana Bill. After a long discussion, a motion was passed declaring the article a Breach o£ Privilege, and ordering George Jones, jun., the printer and publisher, to attend the bar of the House. The Native Land Bill debate was resumed, when Mr , Takamoana spoke strongly against the Bill. It was ultimately agreed that the Oidei of the Day he discharged, to enable the Government to give effect to amendment of Hon. member for Bangitekei, now pending, as an amendment to thc Order for the second reading of the Bid The Auckland Panmure School Site, New River and Harbour Board Management. Conveyancing Ordinance Amendmeutj and the New Plymouth Harbour Board Amendment Bill, were read a second time. The Dunedin Drill-shed Reserve, Invercargill Gas Works and Loan Bibs, wcic read a third time, and passed. Tiie House adjourned at 12.15.
WELLINGTON, August 17. Mr Thomas reports produce prices— Adelaide Hour, £24 ; Colonial, £IH. Good feed oats, 4s ; bran. Is Id per bushed. Wheat, 4s Cd ; pollard, 7s lid ; maize, 4s (id. Hams, HJd ; bacon, fid ; cheese, 7d. Potatoes, £3 Ids. NELSON. August 17. It is reported from Farewell Spit, that a quantity of wreckage is lying there, apparently tom from the bow of: some vessel. There are pieces of rail 20 feet by 12 inches hy 4 inches, of blight hardwood, like mahogany or teak, with planking attached, on which arc cut letters ant uf a gas ta. Also, a female figurehead, live feet high, painted white, with wreath of ruses around head. At the Queen .bee inquiry to-day, Capt. Davis attributed the wreck to error in the compasses, which never worked well all the voyage. Observations were taken sometimes, showing them to be 21 puhfis out.
