HOUSE BREEDING.
The National Live Stock Journal sr —“ The cardinal maxim in breeding hotses, as in all other cases of live stock, and human beings as well, is that ‘ like produces like and that the longer the line of ancestry uniformly noted for excellence in any particular direction, the more certainty is there that this excellence will be transmitted. Again, it must be borne in mind that all animals equally well bred, and possessing, to all appearance, equal individual excellence, are not equally prepotent as sires ; and when a horse has proven himself successful in the stud, he is always to be preferred to one wholly untried.
