[per press agency.] CHRISTCHURCH. July 3. Customs duties collected during last quarter amount to £18938, the corresponding quarter last year was £-14313. Merchants who lost produce by the tiro at the export shed, Lyttelton, a short time ago intend proceeding against Government for damages. The police were sworn in under the new regulations yesterday. Hix men declined to be sworn. Good deal dissatisfaction exists among the police.
