KAKARAMEA.
(from a correspondent.)
June 22. Amongst the numerous improvements and additions being made in this thriving little township, the new blacksmith’s shop, erected by Mr John Lyttlc, stands foremost. This new establishment is opposite “ Dixon’s Wharncliffo Hotel,” and from the trade doing on the opening day, it would appeal 1 that the proprietor lias a prospect of having a first-rate business. Mr Lyttlc has the repute of being a good shoeing smith, as also a first-rate hand at repairing, or even
manufacturing ploughs ami other farming implements. Borne ploughs, altered by Mr Lyttle, gave the owners great satisfaction. When the said ploughs were being tried, the little gathering ol onlookers reminded one of a ploughing match at a country village. Mr H. Williamson has added to the attractiveness of the township by erecting a yovy pretty cottage, the ground being nicely fenced in, Mr Dixon is also making sundry improvements. What with fencing, building, hiving out ornamental ground-, tree planting, and other general improvements, Kakaramea seems as if it wore about to realize the prediction of some of the old Ihitea fogies, when they said that, in time, Kakaramca would make a “Bonny Place.” Fiz.
