ATTEMPTED MURDEER AND SUICIDE
The following" telegram lately appeared in the Wayya Wayya Advertiser : “ Urana, Monday.*—A man named Charles Allen, a selector, attempted to murder his wife and children at Urana this morning. After striking the two children with a tomahawk, he tried to strike his wife. She met the blow by raising her arm, and was so wounded. Meantime a dog was let loose by a person where the man’s wife was staying. The dog seized hold of Allen, and by this means the woman’s life was saved. Allen afterwards went under a tree, and in a short time was found with his throat cut, dying almost immediately after lie was observed, from the self-inflicted wound. The wife of the wretched man had left him through
his cruelty, and was staying at anothe.t selector’s house. An inquiry will b; mid into the affair. The doctor attending the wife and two children considers the recovery of the children doubtful.”
