All disputes to ho settled by the Stewards, whose decision shall be final. 3. Persons lodging a protest will place £1 in the hands of the Secretary on making the same, which money will be forfeited if such protest be deemed by the Stewards frivolous or unjust. 4. All persons intending to withdraw horses, are requested to give notice to that effect to the Secretary, at least fifteen hlinntes before the hour of starting. 5. Any jockey riding- except in the colors entered, will be fined £l. G. Nominations and acceptances will not be received after the time stated under any pretence whatever. 7. Five per Cent, will be deducted from the gross proceeds of all moneys paid in accordance with the programme, for expenses; Nominations for the Hawera Handicap, addressed to the Secretary, must be made on or before 8 p.m. on the 7tb May, 1877.
