March 27. The Moanatairi yield turned out 6165 oz of melted gold, from 5 cwt of specimens yesterday. This morning, 15 cwt was broken down, one stone weighing about 50 pounds, being enormously rich, and estimated to be about half gold. Shares are rising. TAUPO. March 24. The Native Minister, accompanied by Majors Mair and Kopata, Mr Mackay, and Captain Mair, held a meeting yesterday with Manga and the assembled natives. Manga opened the proceedings by formally laying down the boundary over which the King’s mana must be recognised. This boundary runs from Horohoro to Atcmuri and Whangamata, lake Taupo, and if recognised would shut up the Tokoroa country between Ateamuri and Cambridge, and defer to an unknown date the opening up of the main line of road to the latter place. Alter Uewi’s speech, the Ngatiraukawa chiefs addressed the Native Minister vehemently, and nearly unanimously repudiated the King’s boundary laid down by Manga, asserting their determination to deal with their ancestral lands of Tokoroa in whatever way they deemed best, and requested that the questions of ownership be settled by the Native Land Court, and the roads opened, declaring that such was the full and matured policy of the large majority of the Ngatiraukawa tribe. The meeting was adjourned till next day. WELLINGTON. March 24. At the nomination to-day, Messrs Travers and Hutchison were the only candidates proposed. The Returning Officer declared the show of hands in favour of Mr Hutchison. There was an unusually large number of electors present. L March 27Mr Travers has been elected for the City of Wellington by a majority of 13— Travers, 573 ; Hutchison, 560. About 100 people (friends of Sir Wm. Fitzherbert), and amongst them many of the oldest settlers, met to-day to offer their congratulations on his elevation to knighthood. ' His health was drunk with enthusiasm. and - Sir William replied most effectively.

An elderly man, named George Scott, has been committed for trial for forging an acceptance for £14,000.
