"TRIA JUNCTA IN UNO."

[TO THE EDIToK OF THE PATEA MAIL.] Sm, —According to report in the Mail of Saturday last, I see that Mr G. F. Sherwood has been appointed Chairman of the Patca Harbour Board. Now, Sir, do you not think it is really too bad to place too much weight on the back of either a horse or a man, no matter how willing' either may be to hear the burthen. Mr S. is now Chairman of the C.G., C.T.8., and P. 11.8. It is really surprising that another man cannot be found in the district capable of taking charge of one of the three chairs. Further, it is pretty extensively considered that Mr S. is not doing his duty to the public in retaining the Chairmanship of both County Council and Town Board, as he thus deprives the Harbour Board of a member; therefore he would only be doing his duty if he took the hint and resigned one of the two positions (which he pleases), although he may consider it a great sacrifice to make. But he would have the consolation of knowing that many men have made equally as great sacrifices for the good of their country. I may be premature in offering advice, as possibly the delay lias only been occasioned on account of notice of a certain motion to bo made in the O.C. to-morrow (Tuesday). A word with you, Mr Editor. It is general!v understood that the Provinces were interred on (he 31st December, 1876, still I notice in the right-hand bottom corner of the fourth page of the Patea MaH. that the said paper is now published in the Province of Taranaki. —I am, &c., March 5, 1876.
