PRESBYTERY OF WELLINGTON.
Tilic N. Z. Times reports, that a duly constituted meeting' of the Presbytery of Wellington, was held in Wellington, on Wednesday, the 21st instant. Present— The Rev Oi S. Ogg, M.A. (Moderator), Rev James Treadwell, Rev J. Drmean, Rev John Ross, Pev J. McKee, Rev James Paterson, ministers ; and Messrs John McLean and W. McCardlc, elders. The Rev James Paterson stated that the site lor church and manse at Kakaramca had been secured, and was held by Messrs Henry Williamson, Andrew ,limiter, and James Paterson in trust for the congregation there in connection with the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand. Also, that the site at Carlyle for church and manse had been secured, and was held in trust. The Rev. Mr Treadwell reported the opening of a new Church at liawera, on the 1-lth January, and said there was every prospect of a good congregation being formed. 'Tire Rev Mr Martin, who had hitherto supplied that Church having left for Scotland, the Rev James Tony had been temporarily entrusted with the charge. A temporary session was formed, represented as follows : —Pev Messrs Treadwell, Allsworth, and Poss, ministers ; .Messrs McFarlane, and' David Strachan, elders ; Pev Mr Treadwell, moderator. A long discussion arose as to the boundaries of the Waverloy charge, and the liawera charge, and ultimately it was remitted to the session at Waverloy and the temporary session at liawera to consult together in regard to the division of the two charges, and to report at the next meciiug of the Presbytery. The credentials of the Rev James f l'orry, recently arrived from Scotland, were tound to ho quite satisfactory. They highly commended him as minister of good abilities, of unblemished character, and of faithful labours. Mr Tor.y was cordially received and welcomed as a minister within the bounds. The credentials were a ceriiiieate from (he Presbytery of Orkney, dated October "22, 1872, and a certificate from the Rev Win. Brown, of Jersey, moderator of the session of Alderney, dated April 20, 1870. It was resolved that the Rev J Tony be appointed to supply liawera for live more Sabbaths. it was reported that the inhabitants in the districts of Foxton, Palmerston, and Fielding, had displayed sad indiiference in regard to Church matters.
