TOWNSHIP OF NORMANBY.
(to the editor of the patea mail. Sir, —As, with many others, I am very much interested in the above township, I should feel obliged if you would inform me if they r have a local Town Board there. If they 7 have, there is no township which ought to show to greater advantage, as far as interior improvements go. Every section in the place is sold, and therefore there must be a very large number of ratepayers. Now, Sir, supposing each of these absentee and resident owners were rated, at, say threepence in the pound on the cost of their sections at public auction, what a considerable amount the local Board would have which they could spend in metalling and forming the main streets, commencing, say'-at the street named Wallscourt Place, and going on with the cross streets as funds came in. By adopting this course, in a short time Norman by would be as well laidouta town as any in the North Island. Again, these improvements would induce settlement, and cause more people to take an interest in the place. If they have no local Board there I should advise them to take steps towards electing one as soon as possible.—l am, &c., PROGRESS.
