COUNTY BOUNDARIES.

In' a late Gazette the boundaries of the various counties are set forth. The Patea boundaries are thus defined :—“Bounded towards the North by Taranaki County ; towards the East by the Patea River to the north-western, boundary of the Pulcekino Block, thence by the western boundary of that block to "its south-western corner, thence by a right line to the north-western corner of the Taumaha Native Reserve, thence by that reserve to the Ingahape Stream, tlience by the middle of the Cngahape and Manawapon Streams to the ocean; towards the South-west by the ocean ; and towards the West by Taranaki Oouuty. Bounded towards the North by Taranaki Comity ; towards the East by a line from the south-eastern comer of the Mangaotuku Block to the intersection of the confiscated boundary line, by the Whennakura River, thence by the middle of the Whenuakura River to the ocean ; towards the South-west by the ocean ; and towards the West by Hawera Riding. Bounded towards the North-west by the Taranaki County ; towards the East and South-east by "Wanganui County ; towards the South-west by the ocean ; and towards the West by Otoia Riding.’’ The Patea County is divided into three ridings for each of which three members are to be returned. They are named respectively the Hawera, the Otoia, and the Waverlsy ridings. The County Council’s functions commence at the New Year.
