MR FREEMAN R. JACKSON’S FORTNIGHTLY REPORT. * November 23. 1 held my usual sale to-day, which was well attended, and the prices obtained were satisfactory. Store cattle were in demand, and in favour of the sellers. Mrs Hair’s rams came forward in splendid order, and were universally admired. The prices ob- ' tained weic very good, and the bidding was brisk throughout. Cattle. —G7 head wore yarded, and sold as follows : —Fat cows, of medium quality, from £G 10s to £7 10s; veal calves, £1 17s Gel; mixed stores, £4 5s to £4 15s. Sheep.—4sl were penned. Shorn sheep of good quality made 8s to 9s Gd; wethers in wool, half fatted, were withdrawn at 10s 3d. Mrs Hairs Rams —sG were offered, and all sold but one, an imported ram ; the rest made from £2 17s Gd to £l2 10s. Horses—A large number offered, but were very dull of sale. I sold a few at prices ranging from £6 5s to £2l. Exports—Cattle, 112 ; sheep, 2,004. MESSES ASHFORTH AND LIFPITON’S MONTHLY STOCK REPORT. . Wanganui, November 21, The opening sale of stock at our Waitotara sale yards was held to-day, the attendance of buyers being numerous, and the demand for cattle brisk. About 70 head more than were advertised came forward, and some 220 were quitted, all offering being sold. Between 300 and 400 mixed sheep came forward, but were not much sought for, although fair prices were realised. Horse stock was dull of sale. No fat stock came forward. Wc quote : Cattle.—3 and 4 year old bullocks mixed, £7 2s Gd ; 3 year olds, £6 7s 6d ; IS months and 2 year olds,' (two-steers), £4 17s Gd ; calves under 18 months, mixed, £3 17s Gd ; cows, £4 15s to £5 12s Gd ; dairy cows, with carves, 567 Iss; i puru-brctl Alderney bull, 11 months old, sold for £G 7s Gd. This description of stock is not in demand. Sheep. —2oo mixed wethers and ewes, lambs given in, average 10s each in their wool. About 25 rams were offered, but bought in. Twenty guineas was offered for one of Mr Andrew’s prize-takers, but refused. Horses.—Little demand, Wanganui, November 23. Mr CL A. Hurley reports : — Wholesale gelling prices—Flour, firm at last quotations ; oats, 3s 4cl to 3s Gd ; bran, per ton, L 7 10s ; pollard, L 7 10s; barley meal, L 8 10s ; maize and wheat in demand, but no supply ; potatoes, stocks light, about LG 10s.
