King Fergus was got by Lord Byron, the property of Mr Proudfoot, of Dumfrieshire, who gained the first prize of £4O at Annan, when 4 years old. Lord Byron was got by old Prince Royal, who gained the first prize at Aberdeen, and also at Johnson. King Fergus was bred by Mr Muir, of Kircudbrightshire, out of his prize marc Clydesdale, which was bred by Mr Frame. King Fergus ■gained seven prizes in 1860, and had he first prize awarded to him_ as being tthe best animal of the horse kind at the great show at Hamilton.
