The budget has the following respectingyouhg Taranaki“ Daring a heavy downpour of rain the other day a butcher boy rode up ; opposite to a tradesman’s shop' window in Brougham-street.- The boy yelled out “ Butchor-r-r.” The tradesman being just then* engaged in a delicate bit of work- did not heed the call. The j’ell was repeated,-and the tradesman looking up from his work was beckoned by the boy. Going out in the pouring rain (and the man was bald-headed).-the boy said “ Just look* among these and see if there’s 1 a bill for Mr The rain was pouring. Thebiil was found, and with the others was offered to the boy, who coolly said, “ Wished you’d just take it (meaning the bill)- and pop it under -Mr-—-’s door—.save mo getting .down.’” Astonished at the cool impudence of the Taranaki-grown hoy the tradesman did air requested—pro-". Dably hi! thought that boy should ho re*' warded”
