INGLEWOOD.

(from a correspondent.) A large and enthusiastic meeting of the inhabitants was held at the schoolhouse on Saturday evening, sth August, Colonel Trimble in the chair, when the following resolutions were' passed.— Moved by Mr Curtis, and seconded by Mr Tilley ;—“ That this meeting having read the letter of his Honor, F. A. Carrington Esq., addressed to the chairman has much pleasure iri according to his Honor, and to the other honourable members of the House of Representatives from this Province, a hearty vote of thanks for their exertions in getting bridges built, but it would at the same time call their attention to the fact that their work is far from complete until the road is made good in every respect, as far as HaWera, and hopes that they will continue their good offices until that be accomplished." Moved by Mr Langley, and seconded by Captain Minchin —“ That this meeting calls the attention of the representatives of the Province to the most unsatisfactory state in which the question of the extension of the Waitara-Patea’ line of railway now stands, and asks them to continue to urge upon the Government the duty of keeping faith with the settlers in this district, by pushing to a speedy completion the section to Inglewood, which ought to have been completed last month." Moved by Mr Carter and seconded by Mr Mains : —“ That this meeting further requests the said representatives to use their iufliv nre to have another section of the railroad at once put in hand, not only for the "iirposo of opening up the land for settlement, hut also to give employment to some of the recently arrived immigrants now badly in want of work.” Moved by Mr Carter, and seconded by Mr Marns :—That this meeting requests his Honor the Superintendent to arrange with the Government for a money-order office, a postal savings hanky and a telegraph office at Inglewood, assUVed as it is, that he fully appreciates the necessity or such accommodation."
