We learn by Melbourne advices that the Melbourne Echo finally gave up the ghost on the sth July. It is a matter deeply tobe regretted, as the Echo, when under the management of its late proprietor (Mr' Dalziel) was considered by one and all to have been one of the best-conducted journals in Australia. Mr Dalziel withdrew from it on the 17th June, when it passed into the hands of Mr J. C. Patterson, ‘ late of the New Zealand Times, and came so shortly afterwards to an untimely end. There is no business in the world perhaps that requires steering with a clearer head or a steadier hand than a newspaper.
