Mv stock sales d thing the past fortnight have been coidincd to the usual auction at the St. Hill-street Sale Yards, though large numbers of fat cattle have been sold privately for the Wellington market. That market is our chief outlet at present fur ■fat cattle, the export trade by sea beingsmall, and barely enough to find employment for one steamer ; and artless a marked improvement .lakes place in Auckland and the West Coast; the seaward trade must nearly* or <pnte, cease from this port. Prices for all descriptions of stock remain at last sale’s values, with the exception of horses, which show a decided improvement, really first-rate animals commanding attention. CATTLE.— -139 head were yarded, and with the exception of one pen of fat cattle all sold at quotations. Fat bullocks, from £8 15s to £9 ; fat cows,'£6 12s (id to £7; 3-ycar-ohl steers, £6 17s (id ; 18 months to 2 years old, £6 5s ; 2-year-old heifers, £3 12a Gd ; yearlings, £2 12s Gd ; cows, from £4 5s to £5. « FitEiir.—92l came forward, and mot a ready market.
