* AUCKLAND—ApriI 29. Cattle Market.— Mr Alrfed Dockland reports that at Kenmera, on the 27th April, not many dairy cows were penned ; those sold freely at late values, and brought from £9 to £ls each. Store cattle in full supply, 178 head penned, but many of them too young or not well fatted, which lowers the averages ; prices advanced on last week’s sales Is the IQOlbs, and realised from 20s for inferior to 30s for best quality. Sheep in average supply ; steers, dull of sale ; fat sheep fairly competed for, but at lower values than for the past fortnight ; good wethers selling at 3d the lb. —Messrs Hunter and Nolan report that there has been no noteworthy alteration in the horse market. Prices for those of a good stamp have been maintained, but inferior were rather dull of sale. They quote, hacks, £8 15s to £ls ; light harness horses, from £l3 to £24 J6s. There was a moderate muster of cattle at Newmarket on the 25th April, and corresponding demand. Good dairy cows were disposed of at excellent rates, and well-bred steers in fresh condition were keenly competed for. The fat beasts submitted were as a rule insufficiently up in condition, consequently bidding was not as brisk as the previous week. They quote, dairy cows, from £lO 15s to £l3 10s ; 2 and 3-year-old steers, from £5 to £5 15s ; weaned calves, from £1 10s to £2 12s ; store cows'; from £3 10s to £4 ss. There was a large number of sheep penned, but very few of a good' description, consequently the demand was rather slack. They sold wethers frera 16s 9d to 21s ; fat lambs, from 10s 6d ; store sheep, mixed sexes, 8s to. Os 6d.each. There was rather a short muster of pigs, and principally too heavy weight, and prices were scarcely so high as the previous week, but still ruled in favour of the vendor.
