HAWERA TOWN BOARD.

A special meeting of the Hawcra Town Board was held at the Town Clerk’s office, on Monday evening last, the 20th inst, all , the members being present. The minutes of tiie ordinary monthly meeting, held on the Gtb March, were read and confirmed. Resolved, “ That the road be widened 13 feet from the edge of gravel to the edge of footpaths about to be formed, and that footpaths be constructed from the north-west corner of section No. 11 to tho south side of the Bank of Now South Wales, and 'that tenders be invited for same.” Resolved, “ That all persons owning or occupying land within the town boundary whereon is growing live fences, be given written notice to cut and trim such fences within 80 days from the date of such notice being given, and also that all cuttings and trimmings be removed.” Resolved, “ That Messrs Campbell and Dale be requested to reduce their fee for valuation of town property, and that cheques be signed by the Chairman or any one member of the Board, and in all cases to be countersigned by the dork.” Letter from Captain Wray, bearing date 14th March, intimating to the Board’that the Government has endowed them with town reserves, and that titles will be forwarded as soon as possible.” Resolved, " That the clerk intimate to Captain Wray that the Board arc gratified to learn the favorable result of their request, and to enquire about site for Town Hall and Library.” Resolved. “ That a vote of thanks be recorded to Captain Wray for the interest lie has taken in the matter, with regard to reserves, &e., on behalf of the Board.” A letter was received from the cricketing community of the town, praying for a piece of land, 5 acres in extent, to be n u-d for cricketing purposes only. The request was granted, the term of lease to be 14 years, tor the nominal rental of £1 per annum. The meeting then adjourned muff 7.30 p.m. of Monday, the 3rd April next.,,
