THE INGLEWOOD ANNIVERSARY.
(TO Tilt; EDITOR OF TIIJC PATEA MAIL.) Silt, —Pci using the. Inglewood anniversary, as published in the Taramnii papers, one is astonished at the barefaced toadyism displayed. First, he commences with a laudation to Sir .1. Vogel. 1 wonder if he knows such a place is in existence. Ho then gives a touch to Mr. I’., Superintendent, and takes care to have a slap at past failures, and poor Major Trimble, unless ho can sell his land at a profit quickly, a course I think some of the old identities would adopt if the land belong'' Ito them. To c.no at a distance it - l eads well, a sort of Aladdin’s Lamp affair, bid to one that knows what a settlement in a. dense bush means, simply misery and a failure, so soon as Government money is spent It suits Taranaki storekeepers, or they think it does. If the money spent in Inglewood had been spent in making £ lie.- road through the country to Hawcra, spots lit, for settlement—selected, so itl, or given away, it would have then been a success. .us it is, it must end in a miserable failure, anil, in my opinion, is ■prostituting the public money. Mr Editor, 1 (rust yon will note the contents of this letter, as it will bean answer to all questions that will be asked before another twelvemonth. I am, &c,, NO TOADY.
