Provisional Directors : Bankers ; Rank of Now .South Wales. Solicitor : G. D. Ilammerton, Esq. Secretary, pro tem :• William Dale.

The want of aenitablo steamer to do the increasing trade of the Paten District with other ports of the Colony will be generally admitted, the steamer at present running' between Wanganui and Patca being unsuitable for stock carrying purposes, and in order to supply the markets on the West Coast of the South Island, it is necessary that a suitable boat should be obita’uod for that purpose, also to convey goods from Wellington, Nelson, and other ports direct, instead of the present uncertain means of transit vifi Wanganui, which also adds considerably to the cost of the goods obtained through that source. The promoters of the Company, in fixing the above-mentioned rate of payments of calls, consider that it should meet with the, hearty support of the settlors (who will really bo the principal gainers by having a moans of conveyance to carry away their surplus stock and produce to' a profitable' market). In the event of the whole of the shares being applied for, the promoters do not consider that it will be necessary to* call up the whole of the capital ; but should it be necessary to call the whole of it up, the payments will extend over a period of at least seven mouths, which should make it convenient for every one interested to ta'ke even a small interest in the company. In having the shares distributed in' small lots, it would tend to the success of tin; Company, inasmuch as each individual shareholder would bo likely to exert himo<rlf m ]■*-. n., fi u.«, fi.„\ Company, by using the Company’s boat for any importation or exportation at his’ disposal. Tim promoters of the Company have' already obtained an assurance of a grant of £I3OO per annum from the Government,' as a subsidy in aid of the boat, in eon" side.ration of the steamer towing sailing vessels inwards and outwards of the Patca river, at a fixed rate. This sum alone will considerably assist in paying the working' expenses of the boat. A number of the shares will be offered to the public in Wellington, Nelson, Wanganui, and West Coast, to which ports it is intended that (he vessel shall trade, but the company's head quarters will bo at Paten, and bo m anaged by a local directory. The share list will close on the loth 1 December next. Applications for shares can bo made to’ nnv of the Provisional directors,- or at th : Company’s temporary office, Carlyle.
