HAWERA RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
Saturday, November 13.
(Before Major Turner, R.M., and James Livingston, Esq., J.R.) Civil Cases. JAMES REID V. JOHN COLTHART. Claim £8 9s Cd. No appearance of defendant. Warrant granted fur his person. FURLONO V. DUNNE. Claim of £1(1 8s 3d. Defendant agreed to pay £5 in a week, and the balance by £2 monthly instalments. Verdict accordingly, with costs, £1 15s. DAVIDSON V. 11. C. ROWELL. Claim of £l3, for goods supplied. Defendant did not appear. Verdict for amount claimed with costs £1 10s. INKSTER V. O’DONNELL. Claim of £lO for one pine tree, aileg.-d to have been cut down and used by defendant in the year 1871. It appeared from Ihe evidence of defendant, that since that time several business transactions had taken place between them, hut nothing had been said about the tree now claimed for. He paid 255. into Court, which lie thought would be a fair price, and called Mr Epryght and Heber Jupp in support, and 'Doth set the price of the tree down at £l.
The Bench remarked that they thought the money paid into Court was ample, and gave a verdict accorlingly, with £(i 2s costs, to be paid between plaintiff and defendant.
The Court then adjourned till the Ist Saturday in December.
