C CAPITAL, eo.l.K.itl, in 1000 Shares of ) X.i> each, to be called up as follows — os per share on application, Hs on allotment. His one mouth alter allotment, ami the balance in calls of 1 os each, at intervals of not less than one month. PROVISIONAL DIRECTORS I Bankers ; Bank of New South Wales. Solicitor : G. D. Hainmerton, Esq. SECRETARY, PRO TEM I William Dale. The want of a suitable steamer to do the increasing trade of the I’atea District with other ports of the Colony will be generally admitted, Hie steamer at present running between Wanganui and I’atea being unsuitable for stock carrying purposes, and in order to supply the markets on the West Coast of lho South Island, it is necessary that a suitable boat should bo obtained for that purpose, also to convey goods from Wellington, Nelson, and other ports direct, instead of the present uncertain means of transit via. Wanganui, which also adds considerably to the cost of the goods obtained through that source. The promoters of the Companv, in fixing the above-mentioned rate of payments of calls, consider ibat it should meet with the hearty support of the settlors (who will really be the principal gainers by inning a means of conveyance to cany away their surplus stock and produce to a profitable market). In (lie event of the whole of the shares being applied for, the promoters do not consider that it will lie necessary to call up the whole of the capital ; but, should it he necessary to call Hie whole of it up, the payments will extend over a period of at least seven months, which should make it convenient for every one interested to take even a small interest in the company. In having the shares distributed in small lots, it would tend to the success of the Company, inasmuch as each individual shareholder would be likely to exert himself in promoting the welfare of the Company, by using the Company’s boat for any importation or exportation at his disposal. The promoters of the Company have already obtained an assurance of a grant of TdUU per annum from the Government,as a subsidy in aid of (lie boat, in consideration of the steamer towing sailing vessels inwards and outwards of the Patna river, at a fixed vale. This sum alone will considerably assist in paying the working expenses of tire boat. A number of the shares will he offered to the public in Wellington, Nelson, Wanganui, and West Coast, to winch ports it is intended that the vessel shall trade, hut the company's head quarters will he, at I’atea, and he managed by a local directory. The share list will close outlie loth December next. Applications for shares can be made to any of the Provisional directors, or at the Company’s temporary office, Carlyle.
