CiAPITAL, £3,000, in 1000 Shares of I £5 each, to bo called up as follows — bs per share on application, 10s on allotment, IPs one month alter allotment, and the balance in calls of 15s each, at intervals of not less than one month. PROVISIONAL Directors : Bank of New South Wales. Solicitor : G. I). Hammerton, Esq. Secretary, pro tkm : William Dale.
The want of a suitable steamer to do Hie increasing trade of the Patea District with other ports of the Colony will be generally admitted, the steamer at present running between Wanganui and Patea being unsuitable for stock carrying purposes, ami in order to supply the markets on the West Coast ot the South Island, it is necessary that a sail able boat should be obtained for that purpose, also to convey goods from Wellington, Nelson, and other ports direct, instead of the present uncertain means of transit via Wanganui, which also adds considerably to the cost of the goods obtained through that source. Thepromotcrs of the Company, in fixing the above-mentioned rale of payments of calls, consider that it should meet with the hearty support of the settlers (who will really lie the principal gainers by haring a means of conveyance to carry away their surplus stock and produce to a profitable market). In the event of the whole of the shares being applied for, the promoters do not consider that it will he necessary to call up the whole of the capital ; but should it be necessary to call the whole of it up, the payments will extend over a period of at least seven months, which should make it convenient for every one interested to take even a small interest in the company'. In having the shares distributed in small lots, it, would tend to the success of the. Company, inasmuch as each individual shareholder would be likely to exert himself in promoting the. welfare of the 'Company, by using the Company’s boat for any importation or exportation at his disposal. The promoters of the Company have already obtained an assurance of a grant of £3UO per annum from the Government, as a subsidy in aid of the boat, in consideration of the steamer towing sailing vessels inwards and outwards of the Patoa river, at a fixed rate. This sum alone will considerably assist in paying the workingexpenses of the boat. A number of the shares will be offered to the public in Wellington, Nelson, Wanganui, and West Coast, to which ports it is intended that the vessel shall trade, but the company’s head quarters will ho at Patea, and be managed by a local directory. The share list will close on the loth December next. Applications for shares can bo made to any of the Provisional directors, or at the Company's temporary office, Carlyle.
