PATEA WEST ROAD BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the abovo Board was held at the Board’s office Carlyle on Monday, October 11, at 3 p.m, Present—Messrs E. R. Morgan (Chairman), Honeyfield, Hunter, Wilson, Gane, Mcßae, and Christie.

The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The tenders for works advertised were then opened, and the following accepted. Gane Road, Mr J. Gibson, £27 8 0. No. 1. contract Hursthouse Road (falling bush), H. Pearson and others, 14s per chain.

No. 2 contract Hursthouse Road (falling bush), J. Batt and others, 16s per chain. Proposed by Mr Mcßae, seconded by Mr Christie —“ That tenders be called for works on Paterson Road, and to be sent in by 2 o’clock p.m., on Saturday, the IGth inst, and that Mr Honeyfield, Hunter, and Gane

be appointed to open and accept tenders. Carried.

A statement, shewing the way the Commissioners propose to expend the rates for the current year, was then made out and adopted, and the Secretary was instructed to forward the same to the Superintendent for his approval.

The Board decides to call for tenders for works on Ball Road, Gane Road, (lower station}, and Manutahi Road. Resolved—“ That objections to the rateroll will bo heard on Monday, 15th November, from 1 to 2 o’clock p.m. at the office of the Board, Carlyle.” A letter from the Chairman of the Ilawera Road Board, with reference to the different Road Boards in the district employing a person to act as engineer and secretary to the Boards.

Resolved—“ That the Secretary write to the Chairman of the Ilawera Board, acknowledging receipt of Urn letter, and informing him that this Board have alroa !y made arrangements for (he services of an engineer and secretary. Proposed by Mr Cano, seconded by Mr Hunter —•• That for the future all cheques bo signed by two members of the Board, and countersigned b}' the Secretary.” Carried. Accounts passed for payment.
