HONOUR TO WHOM HONOUR IS DUE.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE PATEA MAIL. Sir, —I beg to deny a statement contained in > 'our issue of the 11th hist., stating that a peculiar extraction from the bladder of a pig, killed at Opnnake, was effected by Dr Walker on his late visit to that quarter. Now, Sir, the pig from which the stone was extracted was killed by me at Oeo, the 31st of August, and weighed 4481b. I extracted the stone, and gave it to Dr, Walker on his late visit to Oeo, which he promised to forward to Iff Hector for presentation to the Colonial Museum. Ido not think it fair of Dr Walker to give himself and Opnnake the credit, when the credit, if any, is due to me and Oeo. Yours, &c., GEORGE BEAMISH. Oeo, Sept. 14, 1875. [When wc received the infomiat'm k from Dr Walker, we inferred ih it the pig was killed at Opnnake, as he informed ns that the stone was obtained during his late . visit to that quarter. The extraction was freely inspected in Patea, and has been didy forwarded to Dr. Hector.— Ed. P.M.]
