On the House resuming last night Williams spoke strongly in favour of the Bill. Swanson followed, and spoke in strong terms against it, from an Aucklond point of view. He would oppose the Bill throuarh every stage. Ormond supported the Bill in a way which many considered the very best speech of the season, certain]}' the most effective in favour of abolition.
