AN EXPLANATION.

TO Till! F.OITOH OF THE PATEA WAIT. Bin,—lu your report of the last Education Board meeting-, you make me say, u That the Ilawera Blockhouse had been left in a frightful condition after the Sunday services.” What I did say was that the Blockhouse had been used for Sunday services and all oilier public purposes, and that it had often been left in a frightful condition. lam very sorry that I was not more explicit in this matter, as my words were no doubt likely to convey a wrong impression ; yet nothing could be further from my thoughts than what I am reported to have said. • The dancing parties, especially a youthful sot, locally known as the “Rum-Turns,” kept the schoolroom in a constant state of uproar, and 1 have no doubt caused the loss <>f Hie key also, that unfortunate key which Major Turner is now so much exercised about, I only wish he would write to the young gentlemen above indicated, instead cf the Board. The resolution anent tho Educational Reserves, is not correctly given in the Mail. You call it “ The Amended Educational Bill,” which is another matter nlwi'. I am sure you are wrong here, as I worded the resolution very carefully. T. MIDDLEMAN ILrwera, August 7, 1875.
