PATEA WEST ROAD BOARD.

The .first meeting- of the above ncwlyolected Board was held at the Albion Hotel shortly-after the declaration of the poll on Monday afternoon last. Present -Messrs R. E. M‘Rae. G. W. Gane, Wilson, Honeyfield, Hunter, Christie, and E. Rl Morgan. ' '■ ; ‘ ELECTION OP CHAIRMAN, On the rhotion of Mr A. Hunter seconded by Mr M‘Rae, Mr E. R. Morgan was unanimously elected chairman of the Board for the .ensuing twelve menths. • , APPOINTMENT OP A SECRETARY. . On the motion of Mr G. W. Gane, seconded by Mr Mcßae, it was resolved that ?a paid Secretary should bo appointed, and,' that ah advertisement inviting applications for the office should be advertised in the Patea Mail, receivable up to noon On Monday, August 9, at the Mail office Carlyle, ! ' • PLACE OF MEETING. Mr Honeyfield seconded the motion. : Mr Christie moved, as an amendment, “That the Board’s meetings be held at Kakaramoa, provided that a Secretary can be found willing to act for the same remuneration as if the meetings were held in Carlyle.”' - Mr Wilson seconded the amendment, which was carried. PLAN OF THE DISTRICT. Mr Hunter moved—“ That the Chairman he requested to apply to the Provincial Treasurer for a correct plan of the district, and copies of the Act for the use of each commissioner without delay.” The motion was seconded by Mr G. W T , Gane,-and carried. DATE OF MEETING. - Proposedshy Mr Mcßae, seconded by -Mr Gane, “That the meetings of the Board be held at 3 p.m. on the second Monday in each month.—Carried. . ■. ■ QUORUM. On the motion of Mr Gane, seconded by Mr Hunter, it was resolved that four members .of the Board shall form a quorum. ' CASTING' VOTE. Proposed by Mr Mcßae, seconded by Mr Hunter, “ That in the event of a tie , ; the Chairman shall have a casting as well t as a deliberative vote.”—Carried. T - The Board then adjourned.
