The police of tin’s province (says the Dunedin Evening Star of the sth instant) are no longer to enjoy the privilege accorded for years to them, and to none other of Her Majesty’s subjects, of wearing their hats in Court. Judge Johnston, on taking his seat on the bench this morning, was horrified to find the men in blue with their heads covered. “ Policemen, hats off,” was the judicial dictum, which was accompanied by the information that the Court of Appeal had settled the matter. Strange that the Chief Justice did not re-, collect the circumstance.
