The magistrates at Tcmuka, yesterday, fined a respectable farmer £2O for shooting a hen pheasant on Sunday. Charge of shooting a cock pheasant, brought by the n n 3 er, was dismissed for want of evidence. Two tramps, Sexton and Eyes, were charged with obtaining goods under false pretences. Sexton was sentenced to 3 months’ hard labour. Eyes, son of ExSnperintcndcnt Marlborough, cautioned and discharged, complaint not being proved.
