(From the Budget.) Carlyle, June 16, It is rumoured here that Sherwood and Major Brown are going to turn out the present Ministry. Sherwood to he Ministerial resident in Carlyle. £IOO a year and travelling allowance. Brown, Provincial Secretary. June 17. Fresh nows. Sherwood is to take the lead on the Education rate, and Brown hack him up. If Government oppose and are defeated, will then be followed up by vote of want of confidence. June 18. Education question did not succeed, it seems. Dispute who is to he Secretary. Symo wants It. Sherwood only plays second fiddle to Brown. Sherwood offered £SO and travelling allowance. Scene — a furious patriot. Danger of a collapse. June 19, 10 a.m. Motion want confidence tabled. Reconciliation. Syme Provincial Secretary, £l5O, and do everything —draft hills, sweep offices, and chop firewood. Sherwood Resident Magistrate, Carlyle, £IOO and travelling allowance ; also Sub-Inspector of Scab and Sub-Treasurer. The Major sacrifices himself ; as usual will take office without portfolio at a salary of £SO and all Government printing.
