PLOUGHING MATCH.

A meeting was held at Mr William Dale’s office, Carlyle, on Saturday afternoon last, to make arrangements for the carrying out of the annual ploughing match. Present—Messrs Coutts. Strachan, Paterson, Lupton, Taplin, and A. Hunter. Mr D. Coutts was voted to the chair. He stated that it was time that some action was taken if it wore intended to hold a ploughing match this season, and intimated that Mr Wilson had offered £5 as a donation provided that the match was held on his farm. He advised the meeting to accept Mr Wilson’s very liberal offer. Proposed by Mr D. Strachan, seconded by Mr W. Robertson, and carried— That the following gentlemen be appointed to act as a general committee : Messrs W. Robertson, J. Paterson, D. Coutts, J. Lupton, A. Hunter, J. Dickie jun, J. Morton, H. Williamson, R. E. Mcßae, D. Dickie, and J. Fairweather. Proposed by Mr D. Dickie, seconded by A. Hunter, and carried—That Mr D. v Coutts be appointed treasurer. 4# Proposed by Mr W. Coutts, J. Luptuu, and J. Dickie, ; form the committee for the above purpose. The following gentlemen were appointed judges :—Messrs James Maxwelk of Westmere ; A. Johnston, of WspPptam; and James Matthisou, of "Wairoa. The secretary was requested to communicate witli those gentlemen forthwith. It was decided that the ploughing match should take place on or about the 19th of July. A subscription list in aid of the above was opened, ami very liberally responded to. The meeting then closed, with a vote of thanks to the chairman. The committee will meet again on the 26th inst.
