TO THE EDITOR OF THE PATEA MAIL.

Sir, —I see by your issue of the 2nd instant that my name has been placed on the railway committee elected at the public meeting held here by Mr Sherwood on the 26th ultimo. Not being present at the meeting when the committee was elected, my name was put on the same without my knowledge or consent. As I find that it will be altogether impossible for me to act in the matter, I beg to thank those gentlemen who brought my .name so prominently forward, and assure them that I wish them all success in their efforts for the welfare of the district, and trust that on the present occasion they will find gome one with more Ability and leisure to assist them in their present undertaking than I have at the present time. JAMES DAVIDSON. Hawera, June 4, 1875.
