The Auckland “ Star’s” London correspondent writes :—“ There is still an agitation going on about cremation versus burial. The difficulty is to get burnt, since it would seem to bo an illegal practice at present. At the same time everyone joins to the cry against the present ridiculous mummeries as invented by money-making undertakers. Some people advocate wicker coffins, so that the earth may sooner reach and deodorize the body; others a mere winding sheet, as in the very old days. Mr Harris, the latitudinarian parson, is a crcmationist, and has written an amusing sketch called “Ashes to Ashes,” which shows the necessity of cremation, and is unpleasantly full of ghastly details of the uses to which our buried friends arc frequently put.
