THE MINISTRY.
The Wellington “ Post” says;— The position of the Ministry is a truly pitiable one. They see their doom .approaching, and arc powerless to avert it. Deprived of their head, and left to meet Parliament without the assistance of the only man who gave strength to their team, or commanded the support of a party, their position is as wretched as can well be conceived. Never since the present Ministry was formed has a stronger hostile party been arrayed against them than the one which will occupy the Opposition benches at the opening of the next session. Never before did such a weak Ministry occupy the Government benches. Had Mr Vogel been in the Colony, it would have taxed his energy and ability to the very utmost to have escaped wreckage on some of the numerous dangers which threaten the Government. Without him, the Ministry will be helpless as a dismantled ship without a captain or pilot. Mr Vogel himself would scarcely have been able to satisfactorily explain his recent financial “operations” in connection with tbe loan. The idea of anyone else essaying the task is absurd.
