I do not know where he get his information from with reference to the destructive habits of the Californian quail, hut I are surprised to see any person write on a subject upon which he is not better informed. As I can speak from experience of the place I hod before coming bore, not only wi re the quail to he seen upon the properly in hundreds, but in thousands, if one only had the inclination to count thorn, and i Winst say that I never knew (hem do one atom of damage to crops or grass, except the little grass they ate in con junction with insects, Ac.
