The District is traversed by the Waitara-Wauganui Railway, now in course of construction, and which is expected to be completed as far as Inglewood—the Township at the commencement of the District—in about eighteen months. The Land is well adapted to Working Settlers of Small Capital, as it is easily accessible, has abundance of timber for building, fencing, ftnl, and shelter ; never tailing streams of water, and a very productive soil. A good Main Road (raverses the District so far as it is yet open for purchase, and I lie District Roads will also he opened up by the Provincial Government, so as to make each allotment accessible from the Main Lino of Railway. Jf HEREBY appoint Wili.iam Coxxoni.v to bo Tax Collector and Registrar for 24tli (Hawera) District, 25th (Patea West) District, and 2(>th (Fatea East) District. Appointment to date from the 19th February, 1875. FRED. A. CARRINGTON, Superintendent DOG NUISANCE ORDINANCE, 1872. THE following sections of the above Ordinance are published for general information: 2. The Registrar shall cause printed forms, according* to Schedule -A to be delivered to every owner or occupier of land and householder in his district, who shall within twenty-one days from such delivery return such form properly filled in, stating the number of dogs owned by him or in his possession, and by every person living on property in his occupation, and shall on return of such notice so filled up pay the fee imposed by sec. 4 hereto ; and in default in cither case he shall be liable to a penally of not less than One Pound, or more than Five Pounds ; and any person who shall knowingly send a false return shall be liable to a penally of Ten Pounds, such penalty to be recovered in a summary manner, on the information of such Registrar. 3. It shall be the duty of the owner of dogs to provide the same with a collar, to be worn at all times, with the owner’s name thereupon. 4. The owner of any dog or dogs shall pay to the Registrar of the Town, Township, or Rural District in which he resides the fee of Five Shillings for each dog above the age of three months owned by him, and shall furnish a description in writing of the breed, sex, age, and special marks, ami name (if any) of the dog in respect of which each such fee shall be paid. (>. Any person who shall make use of any collar on a dog, in respect of which the fee has not been paid, shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding Five Pounds nor less than One Pound, recoverable iu a summary way. AMENDMENT ORDINANCE. 1874. 2. Any person iu actual occupation of a farm of not less than forty acres in extent, is hereby empowered to keep one sheep or cattle dog, the same not being a setter, pointer, retriever, or other sporting dog, on paying to the Registrar the fee of One Shilling for such dog, and in other respects complying with the provisions of the Dog Nuisance Ordinance, 1872.
